Description
A cast iron foot valve is a type of valve used in pumping systems to prevent backflow and maintain the prime of the pump. The foot valve is installed at the bottom of a suction pipe in a water well or other fluid system and allows fluid to flow into the pump while preventing it from flowing back. It features a weighted flap or check valve mechanism that opens when the pump is running, allowing fluid to enter, and closes when the pump is turned off, preventing backflow.
